Create Your Own Blog
There are a lot of blog websites that make it very easy for you to start writing online, like Medium but you will always have to deal with one huge disadvantage. You don't own it.
But it is not just that. You also need to play by their rules and hope that their alorithm works out for you.
Creating your own blog is easy. You only need a website. I work with wix.com since years and I am very happy with it. It offers templates and makes the process to create your own blog super easy.
Here are some tips
Publish your own website. If you are not familiar with website programming, don’t worry. There are a lot of sites that work with templates. You can get your own blog site done in 2–4 hours, depending on your design and idea. I use wix.com for ages and I am super happy with it. It is quick and easy. Wix already has a blog template ready to go. I only need to put my content in it and press publish.
Brainstorm some niche topics that interest you and choose topic names. John and I will have 4–5 different blogs. Our topics will all be under the umbrella of the digital nomad lifestyle and include traveling, microdosing, finances and passive income, parenting, and everything around being self-employed.
Look into the keywords. There are a lot of different sites that can help you with this step. I like to use the keyword planner from google ads
Think about a good name for your domain that already includes the main keyword(s)
Look into monetizing your website with google ads. This way, you can earn passive income. It might not be much initially, but the sky is the limit. The more traffic you get, the more you can earn.
Make sure that you have time to write consistently. John and I will publish daily new blog posts.
Generate traffic to your blog. Post your blog on your social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, etc.) Posting your blogs will help you but it might not be enough. Promote your site with Google ads to get even more traffic to your site. Note: When your site is monetized with Google ads, you will not just get more traffic, you will also earn more with the google ads that are shown on your site.
Another way to earn money with your own blog is affiliate marketing, you need to find brands that fit your blog. For example, if you have a travel blog, you could work with a travel insurance company.
Use a lot of pictures in your blogs to make your blogs more attractive.
Make sure that your website has a mobile version too so everybody can read your blog(s) easily on the phone
Last but not least, don’t overthink it. Start and learn by doing it.
